Thankfully, our sale has ended, and it was a HUGE success. Friday, Greg estimated we had over 100 cars before 7 a.m. (our ad stated we opened at 8 a.m.!), and they kept coming all day. We finally closed for the day around 5 p.m. We had several folks say that they had been told at ANOTHER sale a few streets over that ours was "the best sale in town" and they were right! We couldn't have asked for better weather - partly cloudy skies and temps in the mid-80's, with a wonderful breeze.
Of course, being the veteran seller, Greg's mother made a couple of really nice sales on Thursday evening, which is sort of traditional with her. She sold some bigger ticket items than I did, and netted probably double what I did, but we were still both pleased. We both have items for the Humane Society thrift store, and items to return to our shelves, but I have reduced my inventory significantly, and for that I was very happy! The people of our area got some wonderful bargains, and we made good sales and gained some space in our cabinets.
The down side, if there was one, is that we are both POOPED!!! We were on our feet nearly all day both days. I think I noted ONE time ... on Saturday afternoon ... when we didn't have any customers at all, and it lasted about 10 minutes. In fact, as we were packing to close, a couple came to look, and even after we had completely packed up our things and removed our signs, a lady returned to buy a cake plate from Greg's mother, and ended up buying 3 items for a total of $13!!!
Will we do it again? If you ask today, the answer is probably "No!" But who knows... give us time to rest, and a few more weekend auctions, and you just never know!!!
